2017 Annual Fund: We Need Your Help!

A note from Alex Brown, Gamma Alpha Alumni Association President

Brothers,

If you have not made a gift to the 2017 Gamma Alpha Annual Fund, I encourage you to please consider doing so. We all appreciate clear and concise explanations for where our hard-earned money goes, so here is a brief overview:

These funds (aka ‘The Annual Fund’) directly support the chapter and cover our operating expenses. In general, it costs about $15,000-$20,000 annually to run our alumni website, database, send out newsletters, and host our alumni for homecoming. Remaining funds are given back to the chapter to help with rush, leadership initiatives, or any other reasonable need the chapter may have.

Every year, we start over at zero and have to completely rebuild.  As a Tech grad, I appreciate the math far more than the cheesy solicitations, so here it is:

  • Break even cost:  ~$20,000
  • Funds raised (annually, last several years):  $19,000 - $22,000
  • Average number of donors, prior years:  132
  • Average gift, prior years:  $163.42
  • Range of gifts, prior years:  $10 - $1,000
  • 2017 Goal:  $30,000

Our dream is for each living alumnus to give $100 per year, every year. We have 1,275 living alumni, this is $127,500 of potential.

We would be thrilled to raise $30,000 in 2017. All it takes is just 300 Brothers to make a gift of at least $100. This support is crucial in helping the Gamma Alpha maintain its standing as one of the premier chapters on campus. I hope you’ll consider helping us.

In closing, there is a small group of Gamma Alpha alumni who volunteer to help with the Annual Fund effort, and are not compensated in any way for their work:  Josh Roberts, Scott Hall, Jimmy Trimble, and Gary Jones. These guys are busy with families, careers, and all of the usual things that demand the time and attention of busy people. Thank you for all you do!
